Pulled straight from a rooftop house party, U Know & The Drill kick in their first Bmktlsch Rcrds EP with an overenthousiastic energy to bring you an EP full of bumping beats, house piano’s, vintage vocal shots and basses that are thick as sludge.
There’s no misinterpretation possible: This EP has what it takes to become a great dance-music classic.
The title track ‘I Need You’ is a piano driven house track with beauty vocal cuts and the 2 big climaxing breaks. It will serve peaktime moments in many DJ sets. Venturing down the house road the 2 tracks ‘Floorsweeper’ and ‘How We Work’ both give ghetto house a high-five while adding a restless jacking bassline and stumbling rhythm sections.
All and all this EP is simply a thing of dancefloor beauty. Check out the snippet below.
This debut release, of 2 not to be revealed big producers who started a new project, is hard to misinterpretate. Way Back doesn’t refer to the 70s or earlier. Stripped back warm and bouncy 90s house is all there is to it on this EP. A 3 track masterpiece filled with sweet-spirited chords, ticking and chugging under alluring vocals that seduce your ears to submission.
The first and ‘anthem’ track ‘Way Back’ is a female friendly, yet unmistakable street worthy piece of music with interesting beat patterns layered on a pulsing sub with synths that flow in and out. This anthem is followed by vocalist Roach telling you exactly what to do on the mellow but very danceable ‘Breathe’. And just when you think you got the sound figured out. ‘Way Back’ adds a number of different synths and a bunch of low ends to the third ‘Every Time’ to give the whole EP a bass music twist.
In writing, in sound and in mix. This EP turns up the heat on all accounts.
